May brings joggers, Mother's Day and photographer Ed Yourdon
The Jogger Photo Project was thrilled to discover photographer Ed Yourdon. Yourdon is based in New York City and has probably captured more joggers with his camera than any other photographer on the planet! His photographs have been published in blogs, magazines and newspapers (New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal and Huffington Post, to name a few).
He was kind enough to allow the Jogger Photo Project to feature his work and with so many brilliant photos to choose from, I decided to dedicate the entire month of May to Yourdon’s jogger photos.
A special Mother’s Day photo will be posted on May 8. Enjoy!

Celebrating Spring, and a New Quarter of the Jogger Photo Project
The Jogger Photo Project has been public for a few months now and I am absolutely thrilled with the response. It's comforting to have a project that may take the rest of my life to complete. These photographs are an inspiration to my writing, namely my short story The Jogger. But they are so much more than that. Special thanks to a few friends who made the effort and made my day, especially Bradley, Diana, Chipper, Paul (Redbeard) and H (for taking it further). And thanks to the brilliant photographers who responded with such enthusiasm.

Many people jog and bike around the Imperial Palace in the morning or evening. It one of the few places in Tokyo you can probably run without getting interrupted by traffic lights or lots of cars - and have some green to look at.
Jogger Photo Project Bonus!
Morning in Asakusa, Tokyo - Jogger says a prayer
A lot of people come jogging through the area in front of Sensoji temple. Many take a moment to say a prayer - like this jogger. Some come to a complete stop. Some run in place while praying. And some make a small bow as they pass in front of the temple without ever stopping.

Welcome to The Jogger Photo Project...
Photograph by Lars Schneider/Aurora/Getty Images
A jogger runs along Pier 7 on the waterfront at sunrise, with the Oakland Bay Bridge in the background.
…and to the endless well of metaphors, feelings and laughs that spring up from this phenomenon.
Isn’t it just fascinating though?
That really, in spite of the weather, the terrain, the day or the hour, there is always someone jogging outside!
The goal of this project is to capture one jogger from every city in the world. Ambitious I know, but hey it’s possible these days with a little help from all of you.
Sincerely,
Melanie
